The Family Reunion BBQ is a joy space for Black LGBTQ+ people to celebrate Family and create connections across generations that honor our identities and sense of belonging.
Black chosen families are a tradition of forming deep bonds rooted in community, pleasure, safety, and love with others despite forces of racism, transphobia, and homophobia break our relationships with biological families. Chosen family is an essential support system, providing love, acceptance, and a sense of belonging.
Affinity Community Services is an intergenerational community of Black lesbians, bisexuals, trans and non-binary people across Chicago with the mission of meeting the needs of the Black LGBTQ community, particularly women.
